That’s simply because they don’t often make noises or create erratic behaviors, so you may not even notice them when they first start occurring. In fact, most people notice these issues only after they receive a high heating bill seemingly out of nowhere.

Air flow issues can force you to run your heater much longer than you intend. Allow that to happen for several days out of a month, and you’ll see a heating bill to match.

If you notice lessened air flow from your furnace, call for furnace repair in Churubusco to get to the bottom of the problem. That being said, here are some possible causes:

Dirty Air Filter

A gradual loss of air flow from the furnace could be due to a dirty and clogged air filter. As the air filter fills up with dirt and dust, it can begin to restrict the flow of air. Not only does that make it difficult for your furnace to acquire oxygen for combustion, but it can also cause the furnace to overheat.

Regardless of whether you’re experiencing furnace issues, you should always be changing the air filter regularly. Lack of air flow is just one of the problems that a dirty air filter can create.

Have your air filter replaced and see if that fixes your problems before calling in for repairs. If it doesn’t help, give us a call.

Damaged or Obstructed Ducts

The ducts are where air flows from the furnace to the rooms of your home. If there are any issues with the ducts, it will be sure to compromise overall performance.

Ducts are quite durable, but they’re not invincible. Over time, they can form leaks or simply become disconnected. This will sap up any heated air coming through the ductwork, meaning you won’t be feeling that air coming through the air registers.

And while an obstruction in the ducts won’t cause energy to become lost, it will still block air flow. Common obstructions include the carcasses of pests or loose insulation.

Improperly Sized Vents

Installing ducts is a bit of an art, and not every HVAC contractor is amazing at it. If they make the ducts too big for the home and the furnace, that can result in reduced air flow.

On the other hand, it could be that an HVAC technician has installed a furnace without making considerations to the ducts. Either way, the ducts are an important part of the system that should never be taken for granted.

Broken Blower

Up to this point, we’ve talked a lot about air flowing through the ducts. But that doesn’t just happen on its own. So what magical force allows this to happen?

That would be the blower fan. As its name implies, this is a fan that blows heated air through the duct system. You can expect major air flow issues—and eventual overheating—if this fan becomes obstructed or burns out.

Need someone to clear the air on your air flow issues? Contact Collier’s Comfort today to schedule a service.

[76
137,136
